KENTFIELD, CA
Kentfield Fire Station Seismic Retrofit and Modernization
Cornerstone was retained to conduct an overall conditional and ASCE 31 seismic assessment. The assessment revealed that the apparatus bay floor slabs were badly cracked and had load path discontinuities in both directions. Additionally, the tilt-up concrete and wood-framed station were in need of a seismic retrofit.
Cornerstone provided PS&E for the modernization and expansion of the existing two-story, 12,600 square foot fire station in Kentfield. A full seismic upgrade was performed that included new shotcrete shear walls and steel braced frames, the apparatus bay slab was replaced for durability, and roof girders were strengthened from below to add the capacity necessary for new PV solar panels.
