Central Galt Interchange at State Route 99

Galt, CA

The Central Galt Interchange project included improvements to the existing interchange by providing increased capacity and improving local traffic circulation, extending and enhancing on-ramps/off-ramps, and providing pedestrian crossings and bicycle access throughout the interchange.  This $41.9 Million project included two 204 ft. long, two-span, cast-in-place post-tensioned box girder bridges over State Route 99 and approximately 2100 ft. of MSE retaining walls.

The project presented several engineering challenges for design and constructability including; existing developments adjacent to the proposed right-of-way, existing high voltage overhead power lines over State Route 99 at the bridge locations, and existing underground and overhead utilities adjacent to the proposed retaining walls that were required to remain in place.
