Hardin Flat Road Bridge Over the South Fork Toulumne River

Tuolumne, CA

Cornerstone was the prime consultant in the design of a replacement bridge spanning the South Fork Tuolumne River. The existing timber bridge was damaged in the 2013 RIM Fire, at the time the largest wildfire on record in the Sierra Nevada, consuming over 257,000 acres in the counties of Tuolumne and Mariposa. The proposed replacement bridge consists of a clear span cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete box girder measuring 120 ft. in length. Timber and stone concrete surface textures were incorporated in the replacement bridge to pay homage to the previous timber crossing and to better tie into the pristine mountainous setting.
